Ingredients (8 servings)

Wash and peel the peppers removing the seeds. Cut into cubes and put aside for later. |
Dissolve the yeast in warm milk. |
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, the olive oil and gradually add the spices and the milk with the dissolved yeast. |
Sieve the flour and add to mixture in the bowl, mixing well. Add the peppers. |
Finally add the gruyère cheese, grated on the coarse grater, stirring with a spoon. |
Butter and flour an oblong form 28 × 9cm/ 11" × 3.5" and pour the mixture of the dough. Place the pan in preheated oven 180°C/ 350°F/ Gas Mark 4, for 25 - 30 minutes, until cake gets a golden brown colour and a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean. |
Let it cool in the pan for about 5 minutes… |
…then run a butter knife around the edges of the pan to loosen the cake and turn it out onto a rack to continue cooling. May be eaten warm or at room temperature. |
