Slow Cooking
A method for cooking using low temperatures (below the temperature of the boiling water 100℃ - 212℉) and accordingly many hours of cooking.
Cooking temperatures depend on the machine that you choose but is usually something like:
low:90°C, high:100°C, warm:75°C

- See your convenience
- Adjust the Slow Cooker on your program. Prepare the recipe in the morning and let the Slow Cooker work alone all day. You can prepare everything the night before, put them in the fridge and start it in the morning. In this case watch the time it will take to heat up the food from the refrigerator.
- Fresh ingredients
- Avoid frozen ingredients, particularly meat and poultry, which take longer to cook and can make a mess of your cooking times.
- Fill it right
- The Slow Cooker should be ½ to ⅔ full. When you boil soups or other foods that need simmering, leave 5 points to the brim. Put the ingredients which need a lot of time to cook - vegetable roots and large pieces of meat - at the bottom of Slow Cooker. More sensitive ingredients such as rice, pasta, milk and some vegetables are added in the last hour of cooking.
- Keep it covered, stir rarely
- Keep the lid on in order to avoid heat losses, which delay cooking. You can pick it up to stir. If your Slow Cooker has hot spots it may require shuffling.
- Season later, not earlier
- Slow cooking results in the deactivation of condiments so try the food at the end to see if you need additional salt or pepper. Better yet, wait in the end almost to seasoning food. Some herbs tend to darken with the slow cooking so it is better to be added near the end.
- Attention to cooking
- Grease the Slow Cooker before adding ingredients, and in the middle of cooking stir for uniform cooking.
